Tom offers now a limited number of handcrafted quality Damascus Steel Knives.

These comfortable knives are perfect for every day use. He's only using the best available materials.

All knives are limited editions and each one is individual because of the beautiful steel pattern and the handles.

He made a few knives for bikers who supplied their own motorcycle chains for the blades and for collectors he uses antic weapon steel.

Let me explain what Damascus steel is: famous Middle Eastern knife and swords makers used Damascus steel for their preferred customers. But the method of Damascus steel is much older, in Europe this technique was used since at least the 3rd Century B.C by Celts and Germanic knife makers. The knives and swords are characterized by distinctive individual patterns. Such blades were reputed to be not only tough and resist to shattering. They could be honed to get an extremely sharp edge. These knives and swords were highly respected in battle because supposedly they could cut through any armor without getting dull. Unfortunately the originally method of producing Damascus tell was lost.

The exact technique is still a mystery, but today's Damascus steel knives are as good as they were hundreds of years ago.

The technique Tom currently uses for producing Damascus steel knives is similar to the old style. Forging two different kinds of steel together creates the appearance of the material.

This creates a bright grey and a light dark stripe. Folding and twisting while hammer forging the steel controls the striped pattern and the appearance; the lighter the color the more nickel it contains.

The steel will be forged and forged over and over until it has 320 layers. Tom can also make 640 layers, but these are custom orders. For the hardest, best long lasting edge, Tom ca for a file in the center of the blade, these are custom orders only.

After this, the blade will be shaped and the final heat treatment is very important to create a high quality Damascus knife.

After the blade is finished, Tom focuses on the handles. He has an excellent eye for material and knows exactly what makes a comfortable knife. Tom's custom made knives allow the customer to get exactly what he is looking for.

Inge makes an individual sheath for each knife according the the customer's specifications.

It is unbelievable how these knives feel in your hand and how sharp they are. Tom's Damascus knifes are the perfect gift for the demanding outdoor men, biker or knife collector.
